Lisa Brunetta
Born in Barrie, Ontario, I have lived in the Outaouais since 1993, when I moved to the area to obtain a B.A. In Translation at the University of Ottawa. My art education in a variety of media has continued for the last twenty years with courses in the area and those at the Haliburton School of the Arts.
Currently, I teach stained glass and jewellery technique courses for the City of Gatineau (Alymer Sector) through the Aylmer Arts Council. I have exhibited sculpture, jewellery and stained glass on both sides of the Outaouais river.
I adore combining language and visuals to make social commentary with many layers of meaning. My art often incorporates recycled or recuperated materials, an extension of my personal recycling practices.
Making sculpture excites me for its technical aspect as much as its expressiveness as an artistic medium. I frequently integrate techniques learned from many different specialties, adapting them to the materials at hand. My art is complex and full of details, and needs time to be admired.
