Biographical Note

Born in Hull in 1971, Sophie Maisonneuve has long been drawn to the visual arts. In high school, she demonstrated great talent for spatial visualization. For several years, she painted on wood and ceramic.

In 2000, she decided to devote herself to painting. For several years, the idea of painting had obsessed her, but she hesitated to try this form of expression, different from everything she had previously tried. She enrolled in an apprenticeship session and it was love at first sight! Acrylic on canvas became her preferred media.

Sophie is characterized by an immense ability to explore new avenues of expression with felicitous results and emerge from them bearing treasures. From her first tentative brushstrokes under the guidance of the Vogue painting studio, she has constantly sought to perfect her personal style and expand her technical knowledge.

She uses different shapes and incorporates them in her ideas and works with very vivid colors, the primary ones are her favourites.

Artist Statement

Pictorial Artist......Emotion

Emotion.  Capturing emotion and reflecting it. Ensuring that the visual experience has impact. “I try to depict on the canvas those things that move me, to see beyond the subject into the very essence of its being.” I will not hesitate to play with colours, and use dramatic effects to express my perceptions.

I am well-experienced in the art of drawing, in reproducing the wonder of nature, as well as in seeking out those details that arouse human passions as one views the subject. Animals, Music and nature are my main sources of inspiration

I have long been drawn to the visual arts. Very young, I demonstrated great talent for spatial visualization. For several years, I painted on wood and ceramic.

Some say that I am characterized by an immense ability to explore new avenues of expression with felicitous results and emerge from them bearing treasures. From my first tentative brushstrokes under the guidance of the Vogue painting studio, I have constantly sought to perfect my personal style and expand my technical knowledge.

I like to paint different shapes, incorporate realistic things and works with very vivid colors, the primary ones are my favourites.
